Toyotas vd: elbilar är smutsigare än ni tror. 27 miljoner hybrider släpper ut lika mycket som nio miljoner elbilar.

Toyotas koncernchef Akio Toyoda har alltid varit frispråkig och försvarat att tillverkaren inte satsat mer på elbilar utan istället fokuserat på sina hybrider. Toyota är på gång med flera eldrivna modeller nu men Akio vill ändå meddela folket att elbilar är smutsigare än vad man kan tro. Bara för att de går på el är de inte automatiskt räddare av planeten och att bara satsa på elbilar är inte en hållbar lösning för framtiden. Enligt honom så släpper nio miljoner elbilar ut lika mycket som 27 miljoner Toyota-hybrider. Så här säger han i ett uttalande: x22When the term carbon neutrality became popular, we said as a company the enemy is carbon. We have to focus on what we can do immediately to reduce carbon dioxide. That is the basis of our decision. It has not changed and will not change. We have sold some 27 million hybrids. Those hybrids have had the same impact as nine million BEVs on the road. But if we were to have made 9 million BEVs in Japan, it would have actually increased the carbon emissions, not reduced them. That is because Japan relies on the thermal power plants for electricity.
